Berlin Irish Rebrand

Role: Concept development and full production

For the new 2024/25 season, I have fully supported both the male and female Berlin Irish RFC social media. This means a total rebrand of their content, and a push towards a more contemporary, sleek, and modern look.

This whole project was a dream come true for me, as I produced content ranging from posters, to instagram stories, to 3D work and announcements you can see above. With the new jersey being revealed, it was a great time to showcase the new sponsor also.

With this project, I was very lucky that I was given such creative freedom to produce different forms of content and media for the team, and I’m looking forward to monitoring the content moving forward and it’s impact on the team and it’s growth.

Berlin Irish Kit Announcement

With a new sponsor and a new kit, the Berlin Irish RFC needed a new announcement. Here is the result, a mix of 2D and 3D trickery to showcase the new look

Gameday Lineups - Powered by Automation

Does automating lineups with spreadsheets and coding fill you with as much joy as it does for me? If so, take a look! This is a unique issue, as lineups change weekly with team members wanting their nationality to be represented. Nothing a bit of Python scripting can’t handle.

Here is the final result. You can see in the top left, After Effects is communication with Google Sheets to pull all of the relevant information. Pretty neat!

These videos are exported and used on game day to announce the lineups for the match. As you can see from the graphic there is more automation at play than just the names and flags. The away team flag, the venue, times and dates are all automated through spreadsheets.

The engagement of these posts are super high and get shared frequently around the club which is a real joy.

The Power of Motion - The Anatomy of a TRY!

One of my favourite things to do post-production is to peel back the curtain and take a look at the layers and how they interact with each other.

Multiple comps here are coming together to really sell the effect and excitement of a try in rugby. This is mainly used as an Instagram story to be posted but in theory we could rig this to say whatever we want, make the client type a name into a spreadsheet, and then jump straight into a Dropbox folder to download their graphic.

Maybe you want to celebrate an individual player? Or maybe you’re really passionate about 2 point conversions! What really is the point in ‘singe-use’ motion when the possibilities in our own mind are truly endless.

Why Not Change it Up?

While I was developing the code behind the automated posts, a nice break was these animated try stories.

The initial thought was how cool it would be for these to be posted after a try, but I realised posting the same story over and over again would lose its impact long term.

The solution? Create some variations! This is an ongoing project with many more iterations sure to come in the near future. The sky is the limit with these videos as they are again very quickly made once the base idea is present.
